Laconia, NH---Douglas E. Way, 85, of 19 Bois Circle died at the Congregate Living Center, Taylor Community, on Saturday, October 25, 2003, after a long illness.
Mr. Way was born November 18, 1917 in New York, New York, the son of Howard S. and Myrtle (Elston) Way. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II from 1942-1946. He attended Columbia University.
Mr. Way lived in New York City and Stamford, CT and was an importer/exporter for Coleman-Way, Inc. in Stamford, CT for thirty years, retiring in 1972. He moved to Center Harbor, NH in 1972 and was very active in civic affairs. He moved to Laconia, NH in 1985.
Mr. Way was a member of the Laconia Congregational Church. He was a former director and past president of the New Hampshire Music Festival and was a volunteer for the New Hampshire Humane Society and S.C.O.R.E.
Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Erin (Roberts) Way of Laconia, NH; a son, Douglas E. Way, Jr. and his wife, Karen, of Piscataway, New Jersey; twin granddaughters, Deborah Erin Way of Northampton, MA and Sarah Roberts Way and her husband, Scott Klein, of Brooklyn, New York; a brother, Dr. Howard S. Way, Jr. of Napa, California and many nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by a sister, Elsa Way Hodges.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, November 15, 2003 at 2:00 PM at the Laconia Congregational Church, 18 Veterans Square, Laconia, NH
