Laconia, NH-----Mrs. Katherine E. Roddy, 93, of Bishop Bradley Apartments and formerly of Dedham, MA died at the St. Francis Home on Monday, October 27, 2003. She was the widow of George B. Roddy.
Mrs. Roddy was born March 10, 1910 in Cambridge, MA, the daughter of John and Margaret (Williams) Halligan.
Mrs. Roddy lived in Massachusetts most of her life before moving to Laconia, NH six years ago. She was secretary to the former Massachusetts Governor James M. Curley and also worked as a placement specialist for the Massachusetts Division of Employment Security for twenty-five years. She retired in 1980. Mrs. Roddy loved young people.
She is survived by four daughters, Joan M. Gust, of Laconia, NH; Judith A. Clifford of Chatham, MA; Janice M. Luizzi of Sandwich, MA and Joyce M. O'Toole of Walpole, MA; 11 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; a sister, Tid O'Brien of Boston, MA; and several nephews and nieces. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by a son, George Roddy, who died in 1969.
There will be no calling hours.
A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, November 3, 2003 at 10:00 AM from the St Edith Stein Church, 71 East Main Street, Brockton, MA.
Burial will be at a later date in the family lot in West Bridgewater, MA
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the St. Francis Home, 406 Court Street, Laconia, NH 03246 or to Community Health & Hospice, Inc., 780 North Main Street, Laconia, NH 03246.
