Belmont----- Norma Diane Reed, 74, of 34 Shady Oak Lane, died at the Lakes Region General Hospital, Laconia on Wednesday, October 22, 2003.

She was born September 9, 1929 in Haverhill, NH, the daughter of William J. and H. Berenice (Sibley) Reed, and lived in the San Francisco Bay area in California for twenty years before returning to the Lakes Region twenty years ago.

While a high school student, she volunteered as a candy striper at the Laconia Hospital, Laconia, NH. During her professional career as a nurse in California and New Hampshire, she worked in direct care and administrative positions, most recently working for the State of New Hampshire. Her numerous professional honors include election to Who's Who in American Women two times, and inclusion in The Directory of Distinguished Americans for her services to the community. She particularly enjoyed reading, gourmet cooking, her cats, bird watching, and a good time.

Survivors include three sons, Robert S. Keyes of Pittsfield, MA; P. William Keyes of Wilmot, NH and John N. Keyes of Manchester, NH; two daughters, Carol A. Keyes and Jean M. Keyes, both of Northfield, NH; 6 grandchildren; one great grandchild; two sisters, Evelyn H. Nelson of Ryegate, Vermont and Wilhelmina "Miny" Reed of Northfield, NH and two nephews and two nieces. She had a great appetite for life and was a high spirited woman who will be missed by her family and many friends.

There will be no calling hours.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, October 25, 2003 at 11:00AM in the Carriage House of the Wilkinson-Beane Funeral Home, 164 Pleasant Street, Laconia, NH.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Audubon Society of New Hampshire, 3 Silk Farm Road, Concord, NH 03301
