Laconia-----Edward S. Batchelder, 61, of 47 St. Catherine Street, Lakeport died at the Lakes Region General Hospital on Wednesday, October 22, 2003. Mr. Batchelder was born June 11, 1942 in Concord, NH, the son of Earl S. and Verna E. (Foss) Batchelder.
Mr. Batchelder was raised in Colebrook, NH and attended the Colebrook School System. He served in the US Army during Vietnam. He was a member of the American Legion Wilkins-Smith Post # 1.
Mr. Batchelder had been employed for the past 38 years in the maintenance of asphalt plants and as a welder. He had been employed by I-93 Asphalt for the past 3 years and formerly been employed by Pike Industries for 18 years and by Brox Industries Inc. for 17 years. He was a dedicated employee and trained many by sharing his knowledge and was a mentor to his co-workers.
Survivors include his wife, Sylvia (Rudzinski) Batchelder of Laconia; three children Christina Batchelder, Jack Bathchelder and his wife Shelly and Brandi Batchelder and her significant other Bill DeGroot all of Laconia: 2 grandchildren Samantha E. and Nathan E. Batchelder both of Laconia; his mother, Verna E. (Foss) Batchelder of Laconia; a sister, Lena F. Abbott, of Laconia.; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father, Earl S. Batchelder, in 2002.
There will be no calling hours.
A Graveside Service will be held on Saturday October 25, 2003 at 2:00 PM at the Family lot in Bayside Cemetery, Laconia, NH
