Lauretta (Messier) Cotton

Laconia-----Lauretta ( Messier) Cotton, 98, of  21 Ledges Drive, Taylor Community, died at Ledgeview, Taylor Community, on Sunday, May 18, 2008.  Mrs. Cotton was the widow of Guy E. Cotton who died in 2001.

         Mrs. Cotton was born April 1, 1910 in Roxton Falls, P.Q. Canada, the daughter of Hormidas and Odena (Dextrase) Messier.  In 1917, Mrs. Cotton moved from Canada to Claremont, N.H. and in 1939 she moved to Laconia.

         Mrs. Cotton was a communicant of St. Joseph Church.  She was a former communicant of Our Lady of the Lakes Church, Lakeport where she was a member of Our Lady of the Lakes Ladies Guild, an Eucharistic minister for Our Lady of the Lakes Church and St. Helena’s Church and a former member of the Columbettes, Laconia Council.

Survivors include a son, Paul G. Cotton, of Laconia; a daughter, Jane C. Turcotte, of Hubbardston, Mass.; five grandchildren; five great grandchildren and nephews and nieces.

         A calling hour will be held on Saturday, May 24, 2008 from 10:00-11:00AM at St. Joseph Church, 30 Church Street, Laconia, N.H. 

         A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, May 24, 2008 at 11:00AM at St. Joseph Church following the calling hour.

         Burial will follow in the family lot at Bayside Cemetery, Laconia, N.H.

         In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Taylor Community, Sunshine Fund, 435 Union Avenue, Laconia, N. H. 03246.
