Laconia, New Hampshire-Norman G. ONeil, 82, of 21 Ledges Drive, and formerly of 29 Kinsman Drive, Laconia, NH, died at the Congregate Living Center on Sunday, May 26, 2002. He was the widower of Helen (Riedl) ONeil who died in 1988.
Mr. ONeil was born in Lynn, Mass. April 22, 1920 the son of George and Marie-Anne (Normandin) ONeil. He graduated from Lynn Classic High School, Lynn, Mass. and from Tufts University, Medford, Mass. and also from Bentley.
Mr. ONeil servered in the US Army Air Force during WWII.
Mr. ONeil had lived in North Reading, Mass. for many years before becoming a permanent resident of Laconia in 1988. He had summered in Sanbornton for most of his life.
Mr. ONeil was a district engineer supervisor for Bethlehem Steel for many years. He was involved in the construction of the Seabrook Power Plant, Seabrook, NH and also the Tobin Bridge, Boston, Mass. He was a former member of many professional organizations.
Mr. ONeil was an avid golfer and enjoyed gardening. He had been involved with the Lakes Region Sled Dog Club for many years.
Survivors include a sister A.M. Rita Gage of Laconia; 10 nephews and nieces; several grandnephews and grandnieces. He was predeceased by his parents a brother Atty. A. Gerard ONeil, Sr., a sister Marguerite ONeil and an aunt Dr. Alice Normandin.
Calling hours will be held at the Wilkinson-Beane Funeral Home, 164 Pleasant, Street, Laconia, Wednesday, May 29, 2002 from 7-9 PM using the Carriage House entrance.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at St. Joseph Church, 30 Church Street, Laconia, Thursday, May 30, 2002 at 11:00 AM. The Rev. Gary Kosmowski, pastor of the church will officiate. Burial will follow in St. John Cemetery, Tilton.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the LRGHealthcare Lakes Region Adult Day Health Care, Alzheimers Care, 17 Church Street, Laconia, NH 03246.
