West Franklin----Ernest W. Woods, 85, of Lawndale Avenue, died at the Lakes Region General Hospital, Laconia on Monday, February 6, 2006.
Mr. Woods was born August 4, 1920 in Newport, NH, the son of Arthur and Frances (Holt) Woods. He lived in the Newport/Claremont area for several years before moving to W. Franklin in 1954.
Mr. Woods served in the U. S. Army during WWII. He was a truck driver and mechanic for M.A. Crowley for many years and then was employed by the State of New Hampshire for twenty years, retiring in 1986.
Mr. Woods enjoyed fishing and rabbit hunting.
Survivors include his wife, Lois (Dearborn) Woods, of W. Franklin; a son and daughter-in-law, Daryl A. and Patty Woods, of Sanbornton; one granddaughter, Jennifer Woods, of Sanbornton; a sister, Helen Harrison, of Newport and several nephews and nieces in the Sunapee area.
Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, February 8, 2006 from 6:00-8:00PM in the Carriage House of the Wilkinson-Beane Funeral Home, 164 Pleasant Street, Laconia, NH.
A Graveside Service will be held in the spring in the family lot in Franklin Cemetery, Franklin, NH. Date and time to be announced.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Franklin Rescue Squad Memorial Fund, 59 W. Bow Street, Franklin, NH 03235.
