Laconia-----Mrs. Linda M. (Remington) Chase, 56, of Mallard Cove, 674 Elm Street, died at her home on Friday, April 16, 2004.
Linda was born September 15, 1947 in Providence, Rhode Island, the daughter of Clarence and Shirley (Beesley) Remington.
She attended the University of Massachusetts, was a graduate of the Hartford Hospital School of Nursing, and received her BA from Vermont College at Norwich University. Linda was a registered nurse for thirty-four years. She most recently worked with Holistic Health at the Lakes Region General Hospital, Laconia, NH, and earlier with Community Health & Hospice.
Linda was an avid hiker and sailor as well as a strong advocate for environmental issues. She loved to explore nature in all seasons, and maintained a connection with the earth as a lifelong gardener. This passion for the outdoors was reflected by her active membership in a variety of outdoor and environmental organizations such as the Squam Lakes Science Center, the Appalachian Mountain Club, and the New England Wildflower Society; as well as sailing associations including the New England Trailer Sailors, the Mallett's Bay Boat Club, and the Seven Seas Cruising Association. She also promoted integrative medicine, was a student of alternative health care, and was a member of the Congregational Health Ministries.
Linda was a deeply caring wife, mother, and friend. Survivors include her husband, Robert M. Chase, of Laconia, NH; her son and daughter, Marshall Chase of Michigan and Melinda Hunt of North Carolina; her brother, David Remington of Rhode Island; two sisters, Donna Wheeler of New York and Christine Lopresto of Rhode Island, and five nieces and four nephews.
There will be no calling hours.
A Memorial Service will be held at the Laconia Congregational Church, Veterans Square, Laconia, NH on Saturday, April 24, 2004 at 2:00PM. Rev. Carolyn Keilig, Interim Associate Pastor of the Church, will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Community Health & Hospice, Inc., 780 North Main Street, Laconia, NH 03246.
